BRIEF COMMUNICATIONS

Overview
Brief Communications are brief, but complete, articles published in a special section at the front of The Journal of Neuroscience. Brief Communications are an ideal medium for publication of exciting and timely findings that will have a major impact in neuroscience. Authors of Brief Communications benefit from the Journal's large readership base among institutions and members of the Society for Neuroscience, and the prestige and commitment to quality that characterize The Journal of Neuroscience.

Preparation and Submission of Brief Communications
Brief Communications are limited to 4,500 words, including the abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, references and figure legends. Please indicate on your title page the actual word count. Additionally, Brief Communications may include no more than 4 figures and/or tables, which may occupy no more than one full page. Manuscripts should be organized as described for Regular Manuscripts and the abstract, introduction, and discussion must adhere to the word limits listed for Regular Manuscripts. Authors will be contacted if their manuscript does not conform to these guidelines, and will be asked to reduce the content or re-classify the paper as a Regular Manuscript.

Brief Communications should be submitted following the normal procedure for submission to The Journal of Neuroscience (see Online Submission Information).
